Case Report of Giant cell tumour of Left distal Radius

Patient detail :

25 Year Female

Complaint of pain and swelling over left wrist since one year.

There is an expansile lytic lesion of soft tissue density in subarticular location of distal end of radius with cortical thinning and buckling. The lesion exhibits mild heterogeneous contrast enhancement with few thin enhancing septae. It does not cross the joint space. The lesion exhibits narrow zone of transition. No calcification within the lesion.

The visualized bones including  the ulna, the carpals and metacarpals are normal in attenuation and do not show fracture or focal lesion.

The radiocarpal, intercarpal and carpometacarpal joints appear congruent with normal joint space. The distal radioulnar joint space is reduced.

Visualized muscles of wrist and hand show normal attenuation. No focal lesion seen.

The subcutaneous planes along the wrist joint are unremarkable. No drainable fluid collection seen.

OPINION: CECT findings are suggestive of

Expansile lytic lesion of distal end of radius – CECT features are more in favour of giant cell tumour of distal radius.

Differential diagnosis – aneurysmal bone cyst.

Advice- MRI wrist and histopathological correlation.
